I am looking for an iPad or iPhone application for our web site.
When app opens I would like to see a flash screen for a couple of seconds, then on to the main application.
Upon first use the app would require the user to log on using their existing user name and password that they have on our web site. I can write the necessary authentication back end on our web site using PHP.
Once the user logs on to their account via the app, they should see a JPG image from one of a choice of webcams. The webcam images are served by the web site only to authorised users. The images will update every few seconds so the app should re-load the image from the selected camera every x seconds, where x is chosen by the user (with an initial default setting of say 10 seconds).
The image should be zoomable.
The screen should have a menu that appears upon touching the screen.
Menu options should include:
An icon for each (currently 4) webcams. Pressing the icons will change the view to the appropriate webcam image.
Other features:
We have news stories and calendar entries all available as RSS feeds. I would be good if the user could select to see a scrolling headlines & diary entries across the top or bottom of the screen. This should be on by default, but the user should be able to select the location of the text (top/bottom) or switch on or off the news feed or the diary dates.
Back end
Upon installation the app should pick up the number of webcams from a flat file stored on our web site. The file will contain the number of webcams, for each webcam it will contain
A unique text identifier (e.g. �town1�)
A title (e.g. �Kalkan Town Webcam�)
A default refresh rate in seconds (E.g. 10)
A credits line of HTML (E.g. �Hosted by Fred Smith� containing a link)
The flat file will also give a list of RSS feed titles and URLs.
E.g. Kalkan News � http://example.com/rss.xml
When the user logs in on the app, the app should send the user name and password to a URL on our web site with some security features to avoid hacking. If the login is valid the site will respond with a MD5 hash and a unique ID string. These will be needed to get the web site to serve each webcam image. These details should be stored by the app after first logon until the user chooses to log out.
If the login is invalid we can make the site serve something to notify the app. The app should then re-ask for password etc.
